Danskina produces contemporary, made-to-order rugs with distinctive character. A pioneer of innovative manufacturing techniques, we take pride in outstanding craftsmanship, hand-detailing and premium-quality materials. Predominantly produced in the Netherlands, Scotland, Germany and India, Danskina rugs bring a warm, new design language to commercial and residential spaces alike.
Danskina was founded in the Netherlands by Piet and Ina van Eijken in 1973. Since its inception, the company has gained a global reputation for quality and innovation, for the revival of long-lost production methods, and its pioneering use of colour, materials, structures and techniques. Design has always been central to our ethos and we have previously worked with renowned talents like Ulf Moritz, Studio Linse, Giulio Ridolfo and Cristian Zuzunaga.
In 2013, under the joint leadership of longtime partners Kvadrat and Maharam, Danskina appointed Hella Jongerius as Design Director. Hella has been a leading figure in the product design world since her early work for Droog, the Dutch design collective, and now at her Berlin-based studio Jongeriuslab, where material research largely determines her design direction.
