What's new from the Milan fair?

On arrival in Milan, we decided our first stop was to be the B&B Italia/Maxalto showroom on via Durini. As always at this time of year, the showroom was heaving with people eager to see the new products on display. There was a dedicated space for The Outdoor and Project Collection with the remainder of B&B and Maxalto spread over the three floors. From B&B Italia 'Jean', a new competitively priced family of seating. Extending dining tables 'Hans' with one of the neatest mechanisms we have seen. Finished in a variety of coloured frames with crystal glass tops in clear, white, grey and complementary dining chairs 'El' all designed by Citterio. For more information please see ’09 News. After spending the morning here, we ventured over to Rho to start the leg work! deSede of Switzerland a strong steadfast company with new models being introduced this year. Concentrating on home and dining, there is a new table model together with complementary chairs. The Bonaldo stand was impressive too; a nice young collection and with the addition of the Big Foot dining table certainly something to consider. Jesse was impressive too. Further developments of their shelving and storage systems available in a huge palette of colours at competitive prices too. A couple of new beds with side and dressing units all worth a look. Flexform & Mood collections pulled a huge crowd and their stand was very busy - nice big comfortable sofas, dining and side tables, chairs and credenzas within the two ranges. Giorgetti for the discerning home owner. Beautiful pieces of furniture including sofas, beds, luxurious walk-in wardrobes together with a range of accessories. Driade & Driade ‘Store’ has such an eclectic mix of furniture that it’s definitely worth visiting their website. Paola Lenti displayed their home and outdoor collections outside of the Fair in a stunning courtyard setting. Beautiful natural and synthetic materials are used which bring texture and colour to their furniture and rug designs - we used their felt rugs on a Richard Rogers project in 2008 at the Maggie Centre in London where they project softness and a vibrance of colour to the interior of the building. Euroluce was worth visiting too - Artemide, Cattallani & Smith both had fantastic displays of the latest LED light fittings which were amazing and Foscarini with their Diesel partnership produced some striking pieces. The FLOS stand was huge displaying their renowned products together with new pieces. We spent five days in total in Milan visiting the showrooms and the Fair and it would be impossible to mention everything and everyone we saw.
