Milan Fair April 2011 'longevity & lifestyle'

Following our visit to the Milan Fair 2011, here is a brief overview of our thoughts and observations at Domain...
An overriding theme to the Fair was the 'longevity' of current pieces, in respect to both the adaptation of well established pieces and the ecological characteristics of the raw materials.
The de Sede collection, renowned for exceptional quality leather only upholstery, proudly displayed the sofa collection in the new fabric upholstery range.
Heron Parigi, originally an industrial designer with shelving and office supplies, displayed versatility in manipulating sustainable materials with the outstanding dining table.
B&B Italia & Maxalto almost entirely focused on seating. B&B Italia 'Tufty Too' has a softer seat and a new cover style, which is a reflection of the leather upholstered Tufty-Time. (Tufty-Time still available.)
The second theme for us at Domain, was 'lifestyle' and the Vitra collection was a fabulous display of the mix and match of iconic and newly designed pieces. It was evident that Vitra has put effort into becoming a strong contender in furnishing an entire interior space.
The B&B Italia 'Bend' sofa range was given space to echo it as a current top-seller for B&B. Bend, a modular sofa, versatile for both domestic and contract use. With a value for money price point, it is attracting a 'younger' customer - a fabulous way to get the market place hooked at a younger age into high quality interiors.
Team By Wellis, having been acquired by deSede, were displaying their strength of cabinet making amongst the de Sede furniture. Such classic design enveloped with modern appeal showed how minimalist and more lavish styles can be intermingled in a domestic setting.
