According to Enzo Catellani the fifth source of light created by man is LED technology, following the incandescent bulb, the fluorescent lighting, the halogen and iodides.
Catellani & Smith interpreted this light source with essentiality and for it he has specifically created and patented new ways of use. This gave him the chance to express himself designing new shapes and concepts without limits.
He likes calling it ecological and environmentally friendly because it reduces the CO_ emissions to one fifth and consequently, it allows 80% in energy saving. It has no maintenance expenses and its life is almost infinite.
That is where his new Catellani & Smith collection comes from, which is enough - he thinks - to love it. Yet the most stunning discovery is the quality of the light it propagates: a Zen light, sort of relaxing and contemplative one, which beyond reducing the power consumption, also reduces the tension in the lit space. It is a lunar and magnetic light you won't be able to do without.
